After cancer surgery, you may be having problems with

• Tight or painful scars
• Tight or painful radiated areas
• Pain or limited motion in joints
• Swelling (lymphedema)
• Swallowing difficulty

Perhaps you have had surgery for breast cancer, or you may have had surgery or radiation because of head and neck cancer.

You may already have had physical therapy or lymphedema treatment, and yet you are still having pain or other problems. You may wonder if there is any hope of getting better, because it has been a long time since your surgery. You may be afraid that you are “as good as you are going to get,” and that there is nothing more that can be done.

Fortunately, there is a lot more that can be done, and you can get better. It is possible for the affected areas to become softer and more comfortable. The swelling can be decreased. Your joints can become able to move more freely. Scars can become softer, flatter, and more flexible. Pain can be significantly decreased, or eliminated completely.

Marian Lord has specialized in working with lymphedema and soft tissue restrictions since 1993. She has had extensive training in different treatment methods, and has also developed additional effective treatments to soften radiated areas and improve scar mobility.

Treatments are given at the Oak View Wellness Center, near 144th and West Center Road, in Omaha, Nebraska. The treatment room includes nature photographs, live plants, and soft music.
